Sally Towers-Sybblis

Red Deer
Sally Towers-Sybblis is a full time artist and calligrapher from Red Deer, Alberta. She believes the ritualistic practice of art not only nurtures the human spirit, it breaks down barriers and strengthens relationships. In her classes students are challenged to find their own inner artist by unleashing their innate capacity to create. Her teaching style is one that inspires and evokes joy through the process of creating. Sally believes that art is not meant to be perfect nor are there any mistakes in art. Her journey to become an artist began at Grant MacEwan University where she studied Fibre Arts and Visual Communications. Upon graduating, she landed a job as a window dresser and display specialist at the downtown Hudson's Bay store in Edmonton. It wasn't until she moved to Red Deer and had her two children that she found her true calling. A friend introduced her to the Lettering Arts Guild of Red Deer and her passion for painting and lettering arts was ignited. Sally's desire to become an artist has been dramatically influenced by witnessing her father's 17 year affliction with Alzheimer's disease. She realized how precious time was and she needed to live out her passion. She talks about this in her co-authored self published book "The Circle Club - a journey of hope and healing". Much of her beautiful paintings and calligraphy are featured throughout. Her work has also been featured in several magazines including The Lettering Arts Review Annual Juried Issue.
